Intro | What You'll Learn

In Module 1, you’ll learn what a goal actually is and how a goal is different than a dream. We’ll discuss why most of us would rather dream than set goals, and how you can break free from that trap and set yourself up for a more satisfying life.

Lesson 1 | Goal Setting vs Settling

Dreams might sound a lot like goals, but they lack commitment and consistency in the action required to make them reality. Dreams are fine. In fact, many dreams are beautiful and inspiring and wonderfully delightful. But dreaming can get frustrating when we falsely believe that having a dream is enough to produce the substance of the dream. I believe our energy is restored when we can call a dream a dream and acknowledge that it is inherently different than a goal.

A goal is similar to a dream, but with an action plan. Reaching goals requires something of us. A goal requires that we show up, rather than merely hope and wait.

Most people don’t actually set goals, not real goals. They may have dreams that they think are goals, but they take no consistent action. Or they may take the opposite approach, trying to convince themselves that they’re ok with how life looks, always ignoring the empty feeling inside.

Don’t misunderstand me, please; I’m all for being content with life… as long as it’s an honest contentment.  What I don’t recommend is denial of your true desire, particularly when your desires include being vibrantly healthy, having the energy to live purposefully, and the confidence to feel at home in your body – which is what women come here to do. I LOVE those goals, and I encourage you to be fiercely honest about them. Become unapologetic about their importance.

Whether or not you realize it right now, you are here because you are no longer willing to rest the quality of your health and life on hopes and dreams.  Set your bar high (healthy high, please), and then by all means, let’s do what it takes to get there.

Lesson 2 | Know Where You Want to Go

The only way to succeed at anything is to define a goal and then move persistently toward it. Anything else is to settle for where you ended up.

Many will approach a goal by figuring out what they are willing to do and then asking themselves if they are satisfied with where their willingness took them. I encourage you to be unique. Join the rare few who have the courage to set your eye on an honest goal and then organize your life around it. I venture to say that it is the only way to achieve anything meaningful at all.

Lesson 3 | Point Yourself AT Something

When asked, what do you want?, you can answer in one of two ways. You can say, “I want….” or you can say, “I don’t want… any more.”

I recommend that you point yourself AT something, rather than AWAY from something.

If I were a driver, and you were to hop in the back of my car, I’d ask you where you want to go. A list of places you don’t want to go would not help me to get you where you want to be. The same goes with your goals. I want to wake feeling refreshed and ready to start the day is a much more powerful statement than I don’t want to feel so tired any more.

Lesson 4 | Why Goals are Scary

Before we go any further, I think it’s important to name the elephant in the room…

Let’s face it! Goals are scary. The moment you get honest with yourself about how you want your life to look and feel, you become deeply confronted by the scariest of human experiences – the possibility of failure.

I specifically say the possibility of failure because for most of us failing isn’t nearly as bad as the pending possibility of it. “But I might fail,” spoken aloud or in the quiet confines of a mind, have stopped many from ever starting.

But that’s why you’re here, [accessally_user_firstname]! You crave more than that. You crave a life lived in color.

And I will help.

In module 4, we will begin to re-frame the idea of failure (and provide additional insights for dismantling the beliefs that get in the way). But before we get there, we have more foundation to lay. In the next module, we’ll take a dive into understanding what you really want.
