Hard Truth - There is No Neutral

We’re past the point of being polite, so I’m just going to jump right in and say it:

There is no neutral.

Not when it comes to relationships, that is. Each and every relationship in your life either adds to your energy reserves, or it depletes them.

** Side note – I’m talking about actual relationships here. People you spend time with. This probably doesn’t apply to passing aquaintences, but you might find that it does.

You Already Know

I’m going to trust that you have an intuitive sense of what I’m talking about.

To simplify, there are two types of people. There are people who leave you feeling uplifted, energized, and generally recharged. And there are people who leave you feeling depleted, drained, and a little closer to death on the inside.

It’s time to stop giving your energy to the second type of person.

If in Doubt, ASK

By that I mean ASK YOUR BODY.

Do not ask your best friend, a family member, your partner, or your colleague. There is one and only one answer that you seek, and that is from your highest sense of self. That answer, from my experience, is found in your body.

Here’s how you ask for the wisdom from within (bonus – you can use this for ANYTHING)

Sit in a comfortable, quiet place. Take a few deep breaths and tune in to any physical sensations that may be present. Try to let go of any tension, holding, or attachment to a particular outcome (the last part can be challenging.)

Once settled, ask yourself – silently or outloud – body, show me what YES! feels like.

And then just observe. If you are like many of the women I have worked with, you’ll get a vivid sense of expansiveness, though the particulars of the sensation will be unique to you.

No matter what you feel, take note of it and say thank you. I find it helpful to put my hands on my chest and belly when saying thank you to your body.

And then stand up and shake for a few seconds. Seriously, don’t skip this. It’s important to set the slate clean.

And then repeat. Sit. Breathe. Settle. Let go of attachment. And then ask – silently or outloud – body, show me what NO! feels like.

I have little doubt that you will feel the sharp contrast between your body’s YES! and your body’s NO!

Honor Your Answer

Now that you are clear between the differing sensations between YES! and NO!, notice the subtle ways that your body also communicates yes and no. (very likely a similar but less intense sensation).

As you begin to pay attention, you fill find that your body gives you these messages as you move through your day. You will feel yes or no (or YES! or NO!) with certain clients, in certain places, with certain people.

Now you know what your body has been trying to tell you.

But the question is will you honor your health with the answer?

We’re in month 6, my friend. We’re past the point of being polite, so I’m just going to jump right in and say it.
